Why Do You Need a Time and Attendance System?
What is a time and attendance system?
Time and attendance systems are easy to use tools that really do come in many different shapes and sizes. Some are as simple as an app on a phone that just require the user to tap a few times, while some can be more complicated biometric solutions that require the users to either use an NFC tag in the form of a card or fob or even use your finger print to clock in and out.
The reason they come in so many different shapes and sizes is because most people that use them aren’t going to need them in the exact same environment. For example, a care home isn’t going to need the same sort of solution as a self-employed person with a few people working under them. In the care home it makes more sense to have a solution that is stationary and anyone can use as soon as they get to the door, that’s where the biometric solution comes in, while it might be a bulkier solution it works wonderfully when it just has to stay in one place. On the other hand, if there are workers who are on the move and probably won’t be in the same place more than a few days a week then something more mobile would suit them a lot better. A mobile time and attendance system allows the user to clock in wherever they are. If, for whatever reason, you suspect that your workers could be using the mobile system before they get to the location they’re meant to be at you will most likely have the option to turn on a GPS tracking so you can see exactly where the users are clocking in and clocking out.
In some circumstances there will be resistance to the idea of having a time and attendance system introduced to your workforce, some workers might view it as a big brother style system that people get because they don’t trust their workers or something similar to that. It can take some time for the workers to get used to the whole process, but they will eventually sink into it and it will become a natural thing for them.
These sorts of systems will help out in the long run because they give you the confidence that the time and resources you’re investing aren’t being wasted and it allows you to easily keep track of your workers.
